11UP material has been sourced from various locations but the majority of information has been taken from a website called www.lifebytes.gov.uk which is a joint initiative between the Department of Health and the Department for Education and Employment.

LifeBytes aims to provide young people between the ages of 11-14 with relevant and appropriate health information. 11Up aims to do the same but for Deaf children whose first language is British Sign Language.

11UP is divided into the following topic areas:

• alcohol
• drugs
• sex and relationships
• smoking
• body matters

These relate to the four priority health improvement areas outlined in the Government White Paper 'Saving Lives: Our Healthier Nation'.
