The Family Centre would like to give a big thank you to all our supporters.
WAITROSE - CLIFTON BRANCH
The Clifton, Bristol branch of Waitrose nominated the Family Centre (Deaf Children) under its Community Matters scheme to receive a share of £500 which was donated by the company in March to three local charities.
The £500 was shared according to how many "votes" each charity received in the form of shopping tokens which customers had to drop into the charity box of their choice at the end of their shopping trip. Thank you to all the customers at Waitrose who chose us and enabled us to receive the fantastic sum of £151. Thank you also to Waitrose, and in particular to Phil Rowlands, Manager for running the scheme.
SLOE - BUT QUICK TO HELP!
Thank you to the SLOES who have generously donated the sum of £1000 to the Family Centre as the result of various fundraising events throughout the year. (The SLOES are a small group of people who hold an annual sloe gin tasting competition as part of a fund-raising event. It could also be a play on words as most of the members are of the silver-haired brigade with a few walking sticks in evidence - very useful for harvesting sloe berries!)

HELEN PARKES RUNS FOR FAMILY CENTRE (DEAF CHILDREN)
We promised we'd let you know how Helen Parkes got on running in the Bath Half Marathon and we are pleased to say that she completed the run in two hours, 7 minutes and 18 seconds. Helen, who raised over £500 for the Family Centre commented "It's one of the hardest, yet most satisfying things I have ever done. You finish the race, exhausted and think 'that was so hard......when can I do the next one!' When the going got a bit tough I thought of all the kind sponsors and the Family Centre relying on the money raised and it kept me going through to the end."
BIKE RIDE FUN
Wayne Rundle, who owns Unity Hair Styling Salon in Redcliff Hill, Bristol and is a keen BSL user, has taken part in Bristol's Biggest Bike Ride once again to raise funds for The Family Centre along with team mates Alex and Shaun Rundle and Ben Davies. We would like to thank them all for raising over £150 and appreciate their continued support.
If you would like to take advantage of closed roads to enjoy a relaxed cycle ride whilst raising money for a good cause, please contact Lin in the office and she will send you a sponsorship form when next year's Bristol Bike Ride details are announced.
