I first became interested in deafness about 13 years ago when I stopped someone in the street to ask for directions and they were Deaf. I then worked in two pubs that Deaf people regularly enjoyed and I wanted to communicate with them in their own language. I have CACDP Level 1 and have completed CACDP Level 2 but the exam pass was not to be!! I have worked in the voluntary sector on and off for 30 years (I know I just don't look old enough!) working with the blind, elderly and victims of crime. My work background has mainly been in admin and accounts. At the Family Centre I am responsible for our team of volunteers, fundraising, courses and general day to day running of the office.
JAMES FRAZER Hello, I'm James. I have been with Family Centre as Administration Assistant since January 2010. I started as a volunteer few years ago, looking after children for Family Centre and loved it! My background mostly is in offices in various places in Bristol. I am deaf so I am fluent in BSL and I have got CACDP Level one and Level two which I passed while in college!
Lin WilliamsHi. I’m Lin and I’ve been the administrator here since April 2008. My background is in admin but I have done various voluntary work over the years including teaching adults to read, helping out at playgroups and Rainbows and even dressing up as a giant baby for a street collection! I am enjoying getting to know the names and faces of families who use the centre and am currently studying for BSL Level 2 so that I can communicate more easily with Monica and our Deaf visitors. |
