Our Services
LEARN TO SIGN
We provide sign classes for relatives of Deaf children in Emersons Green and Keynsham plus a parents class at Elmfield School, Westbury-On-Trym.
For details of these classes contact the FCDC office.
MAKING MAINSTREAM ACTIVITIES ACCESSIBLE
We have some specific funding available to make mainstream “out of school” activities accessible to deaf children. If your child would like to go to Cubs, Rainbows, Swimming Club, Youth Club, or any other activity, but needs some Communication Support , or even just transport to get there, please contact the Family Centre and we’ll see what we can do.
DEAF AWARENESS SESSIONS
We run Deaf Awareness sessions in schools, preschools and youth groups such as Brownies to help children find out how to communicate better with their deaf friends and classmates. If your school or youth organisation would like us to come along and explain in a fun way what its like to be deaf and issues faced in everyday situations, please contact the office to arrange a visit.
NB. There may be a small charge for this service. However, thanks to a grant from South Gloucestershire Council there will be no charge for visiting schools within the Local Authority area.
