SIGN LANGUAGE COURSESThe Family Centre (Deaf Children) will be running a number of interesting sign language courses starting in September 2010. Some of the dates and venues have yet to be confirmed so watch this space for details! If you are interested in any of the courses below, please contact the Family Centre office. All the courses are funded by Bristol City Council. KIDS SIGN LANGUAGE COURSEThis is a basic sign language course for hearing/hard of hearing children. Priority of place will be given to children in the Fairfield School area of Bristol. - On: Wednesdays 4pm - 5.30pm for 6 - 11 year olds - At: St Werburghs City Farm, Watercress Road, Bristol BS2 9YJ - Start: 15th September 2010 - Cost: Free (Donations always appreciated) SIGN LANGUAGE COURSES FOR FAMILIES WITH DEAF CHILDREN AND PEOPLE WORKING WITH DEAF CHILDRENFAMILY SIGN LANGUAGE COURSE WITH CRECHE (LIMITED CRECHE PLACES)This basic 10 week course focuses on signs used within the family environment and child language development. - At: The Family Centre Office, Greystoke Avenue, Bristol - On: Thursday mornings SIGN COMMUNITY INTRODUCTION AND FOUNDATION SIGN LANGUAGE COURSE (LEVEL 1)This is a 64 hour long certificated course on communication and signing skills. - At: Southmead Fire Station, Bristol - On: Tuesday evenings plus three Saturday mornings/afternoons (times to be confirmed). - Cost: Free to families resident within the Bristol City Local Authority area. SIGNATURE LEVEL 2 SIGN LANGUAGE COURSEThis is a 105 hour long course which looks at BSL in more depth. - At: St Werburgh's Community Centre, Horley Road, Bristol. (N.B. This venue may change). - Weekday evenings and one full day Saturday per month. (Day to be confirmed). - Cost: Free to families resident within the Bristol City Local Authority area.
