PARENTING COURSE FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH HEARING LOSS

 

Come along to a Parent's Course on issues and matters of concern that affect you and your child, meet other parents, share experiences, stories, hopes and fears, demystify audiology, discuss deaf child language acquisition and education of children with hearing loss and 'gain confidence' in your ability as a parent of a child with hearing loss.

The above are all topics to be covered on a series of free six session courses for parents who have children with a hearing loss regardless of the level/degree of hearing loss.

Course One - for parents of children age 2 - 10 years, starts October 2010 and runs for six weeks.

Venue: St Werburgh's Community Centre (Just off M32 with free parking).

Dates: October 16th, 23rd. November 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th. All are Saturdays

Time: 1pm - 4pm

Free creche available.

Course Two - for parents of children aged 11 - 16 years will run from January 15th 2011 to March 12th 2011 with two sessions per month.

This free course will cover more specific topics related to teenagers and include further education and employment. One session will see young men and women with hearing loss relay their personal experiences of their teenage years.

All courses are free of charge with priority of places being given to families resident in Bristol. Course places must be booked in advance.
